Northwestern Omne

Rudis's Peaks 26 POSTS in 2 THREADS

Standing at a little over twelve thousand feet, the Rudis' Peaks are a cluster of three mountains covering roughly seventy miles of territory. The slopes are dominated by a variety of asiatic flora and fauna, though the steep temperature gradient moving up the mountains diminishes the variety higher up. The peaks are covered in snow year round. However, the highest of the three peaks, Rudis' Point, harbors a long-dormant volcano. The Peaks meet the sea with high, dangerous cliffs that threaten death to any who take a tumble. Though the winters are harsh, the summers bring thaws to much of the mountain, feeding streams and rivers and lakes that line the slopes. Creatures can find much shelter here in the form of caves formed by lava half a millenia ago.

Seated between the Grotto and Rudis' Peaks, an ancient taiga covered in evergreens covers the landscape. The land meets the sea at its northern borders, falling away to short, sandy beaches where the surf meets land. Cold and cruel, many creatures find it difficult to survive. Temperatures vary wildly depending on the time of the year, with winter bringing frigid temperatures and scarce prey. The summer thaw offers respite and a return of food for prey animals. The land receives most of its water from the lakes on its borders, but the river cutting through its middle is a source of freshwater during the summer months when it isn't frozen over.

Beneath the Peaks lies the Birch Valley. It is dominated primarily by its namesake, a forest of birch trees. The valley is divided by a river known as "The Whip", its source found somewhere in the Rudis' Peaks. The climate can be mild or unforgiving, depending on the season, though prey is relatively abundant year round. Where it borders the ocean, the territory gives way to rocky beaches with very little sand. Its border with the Primeval Forest is not quite defined, as the transition from birch trees to oaks and undergrowth is a subtle one.

Primeval Forrest (Claimed by the Ireneus Empire) 199 POSTS in 23 THREADS

Massive trees dominate this territory, creating a thick canopy that makes it seem to be twilight inside the forest at all hours of the day. Openings to shallow caves can also be found on occasion, offering shelter to the territory's residents. The undergrowth is likewise thick in some areas, reducing the distance that creatures can see. Water is abundant in this territory due to the lakes at its northern and southern borders, along with the roaring and somewhat dangerous river that cuts through the territory known as The Whip. The Whip's tail end passes through here, swelling and shrinking with the seasons according to the meltwater coming from Rudis' Peaks. Though a careful creature can find a safe path to cross by jumping from stone to stone, those who dare try and swim across during the summer months are liable to drown. On its eastern border, it is divided from the Grotto by a much tamer river that is safe to swim across year round. This territory rarely ever sees snow, and what snow it does see tends to melt away quickly, as the territory never becomes cold enough to allow it to remain.

Northeastern Omne

The Grotto 141 POSTS in 17 THREADS

The Grotto doesn't look like much from the surface, not all that much different than its neighbor the Boreal Forest except there is a somewhat larger variety of trees to be found here. The surface of the territory has little underbrush, so visibility between the trunks of the trees is excellent. Openings to an elaborate cave system dot the landscape, its bowels reaching far underground. Hidden near the center of the territory is a grotto that boasts a little taste of paradise. It can only be safely accessed by navigating the cave system. Enclosed by stone on all side, the opening in the roof exposes about eight miles of the cave floor to the sun. Trees, moss, and even some animals have made their home here. Sheltered from the wind, it is often warmer than the surface. A spring feeds a pond inside, offering fresh water to its denizens.

The Saxeus Mountains 47 POSTS in 7 THREADS

Standing opposite of Rudis' Peaks on the eastern side of Omne, the Saxeus Mountains are named for their rocky slopes. With its summit at nearly thirteen thousand feet, the mountains cover an area of nearly thirty miles. The southern, northern, and eastern faces are steep and unyielding. Typically only mountain-dwelling goats can find their footing on those unforgiving slopes. The western face is much more forgiving to visitors. The mountain is covered in undergrowth and a mixture of different varieties of trees. A massive lake takes up a few miles of the northern portion of the territory. The water travels downhill as a waterfall, eventually falling away into a river that continues southward.

The Moors 176 POSTS in 11 THREADS

The moors are a somewhat haphazard array of rolling hills and short, sheer drops characterized by exposed rocks and two lakes created by water gathering in the low areas of the land. The grass is short, green, and stubby here. Wildflowers and small shrubs are scattered about. Some of the sheer drops offer openings into shallow caverns that promise shelter from the winds that frequently sweep across this territory. The land gradually slopes further and further downward toward the east, eventually finding itself level with its neighbor Pebble Beach.

Pebble Beach 83 POSTS in 11 THREADS

Bordered by the steep southern face of the Saxeus Mountains and the sloping moors to the west, the pebble beach proceeds quite some distance down the coastline. As if it were merely the mountains giving way to the sea, the rocks near the northern half of the territory are larger than those seen at the southern half, though the change is gradual. Not much freshwater is found here though tidepools are common and often filled with small and interesting fish brought in during high tide.

Southwestern Omne

The Salt Peninsula 91 POSTS in 8 THREADS

This peninsula was once lush with life and water when an ancient river fed it, but as the river's water was diverted away by river banks and erosion the lakes that dotted this territory dwindled and left behind remarkable salt flats. What little water that does remain here is quite precious, but rarely dries up completely. The plants found here are scrubby and hardy, as the terrain is usually very dry and unfriendly to flora. The beaches at its borders are wide and coated in salty sand.

The Savanna 87 POSTS in 11 THREADS

Though dry most of the year, the savanna blooms green during the rainy season. The territory's one truly consistent water source is the lake on its northern border. The rivers that travel through this territory tend to dry up during the hottest part of the year, becoming nothing more than a small trickle in the dry season. A few rugged trees dot the landscape, but besides them and the thorn bushes, cover is few and far between. Most of the territory is covered in golden grass for most of the year.

The Bayou 37 POSTS in 4 THREADS

The Bayou is closer to sea level than its surrounding territories and takes on a lot of water from the surrounding territories and even the bay to its northern border. The constant rush of water leaves this region marshy year round. It is always warm here, though the fauna are quite dangerous. Crocodiles are rather abundant. Clay is a common find, along with valuable herbs.

A thick swath of rainforest rests in the shadow of the volcano, thriving due to the run off of mineral-rich water. The combination of heat and humidity makes this a nexus for life. It boasts the widest variety of plants and animals in Omne. It rains frequently here and the air is always humid and muggy. River criss-cross across the territory, providing plenty of water to the creatures who live here.

Southeastern Omne

The Volcano 138 POSTS in 18 THREADS

Near the bottom of Omne lays a volcano colloquially (and to Actun's disgust) known as Actun's Maw. Still active, magma bubbles in the mouth of the volcano. Seated at its feet are volcanic rocks and deposits of obsidian. The warm, humid climate makes this an excellent home to tropical plants, amphibians, and reptiles, though other species of animals make their home here as well. Steam vents are scattered throughout the base of the mountain, threatening to scald anyone who gets too close. To the west lies the savannah, their border easily discernible due to the sharp change from tropical plants to dry grasses. Its borders with its other neighbors are more subtle, characterized by the gradual transition of plant species. The most reliable sources of water are the river that cuts the territory in half and the lake at its northern border, though the river can be inconsistent as it approaches the base of the volcano.

Crater Plains 42 POSTS in 6 THREADS

There is little to see here besides the massive craters that take up the landscape. It is unclear what exactly happened here, as volcanic rock and obsidian can be found here as well as remnants of meteorites. Either way, the land has been battered into submission. The earth is mineral rich, but plant-poor and dry. The bottoms of some of the craters have small, muddy puddles in them, but the taste of the water hints at extremely high mineral counts and could pose a danger to the average creature. The safest place to find water are the relatively narrow and sluggish river that cuts through the territory, though the lake on its eastern border has water that is likewise safe to drink.

The Rainbow Eucalyptus Forest 82 POSTS in 11 THREADS

Peculiar trees can be seen everywhere you look in this territory. One might guess that Actun had a hand in this land's creation, simply looking at the brightly colored trunks of the rainbow eucalyptus trees. The climate is tropical and warm year round, boasting a steady temperature and similar, though less impressive, variety of lifeforms than the rainforest. Dotted with rivers and relatively moist, there is plenty to drink here. A lake called Parteros Lake dwells inside the territory, named for its peculiar shape.

Red Mesa Desert 9 POSTS in 1 THREADS

This land is one of the most inhospitable in Omne. Though two minute rivers run through the territory, water is otherwise almost non-existent here and only the toughest creatures can survive the extremely hot temperatures. While it's hot during the day, temperatures fall dramatically at night and can be dangerous to the unwary. What isn't filled with dunes of red, dry sand is dominated by towering red sandstone. Shelter can be found in the shadow of these stones. Most of the creatures that live here come out at dawn and dusk, avoiding the intense heat of midday.

The Gods' Territories

Actun's Temple 2 POSTS in 1 THREADS

Actun's temple is located hundreds of feet in the air, protected by powerful gusts of wind that keep even the most talented flier away. The only way to access it is with Actun's magical herb nato. The temple itself rests on a bed of clouds, floating wherever the breeze dictates unless otherwise guided by Actun.

The temple is a towering structure, composed of interwoven gold, marble, and white stone. A courtyard lays before it with a fountain at its center. Unlike any mortal fountain, rainbows themselves spill from its tips and cascade down into the basin. Further past it is the opening to the main temple, which contains Actun's alter. Formed from solid gold and inlaid with gemstones, it stands ready to receive offerings from mortals fortunate enough to make it inside. Actun herself often appears here, observing the gifts presented to her.

Eura's Temple 2 POSTS in 1 THREADS

Eura's temple is quite cleverly hidden, accessible only via the cave systems of Omne. Eura's magic allows any cave to access her temple... provided the creature who seeks to enter can solve her ever-changing puzzles. No mere mortal is capable of solving these riddles on their own, instead relying on the magical herb sagax to give them the insight required.

Those lucky enough to find the entrance and the herb will find themselves in an expansive cavern located deep beneath the planet's surface. A sprawling temple lays a couple hundred feet inside, rising so high it nearly brushes the roof of the cave. It is illuminated by floating runestones, glowing with glyphs and letters in all the known languages and even some unknown to mortals.

The entrance to the temple leads down a series of hallways, torches offering illumination inside. The walls are painted with vivid, though surreal images that seem to tell a story as old as time itself... the creation of the universe, Rudis's betrayal, and more.

At the center of the temple a massive runestone serves as Eura's alter, prepared to receive the gifts and prayers of Mortals. Eura herself frequently strolls these halls, updating the pictographs and accepting offerrings.

Cadis's Temple 1 POSTS in 1 THREADS

The waves and the land itself hide Cadis's temple from view. The beaches of Omne's continent obscure caves under the surface of the ocean, all of them leading to the Ender's temple. The water inside these caves are tainted with an unusual poison that no mortal can claim immunity to. The only way to enter them safely is with Cadis's magical herb spiritum.

Those fortunate enough to enter these undersea tunnels will eventually surface to open air deep inside. A strange, alien world awaits them. Populated by plants both long extinct and those who have never existed on the surface world, the bioluminescence of the wondrous flora ofter a dim light to guide one down the driftwood-lined path to Cadis's alter.

The altar itself is a massive log of driftwood inlaid with bone and fossils. Cadis somberly keeps watch over his caverns, occasionally visiting his altar to accept gifts and prayers from mortals.

Rudis's Den 3 POSTS in 1 THREADS

One often smells the den before they see it. It reeks of a primal musk. As one approaches, they will see corpses scattered about in various states of decay. The massive bites taken out of the fresher corpses make it clear that something of a truly monstrous size has devoured them.

Rudis's den changes with the seasons, as he moves often. Some of its features remain the same, however. It is always well hidden, shaped out materials Rudis can locate in the area. It is always littered with corpses. Otherwise it is ever changing, different for every territory he chooses to make his home in. Those capable of finding it may see Rudis himself there, for better or for worse.
